FC7 Training Session - 15.04.21

No match today, we broke our attendance record, so managed to get a 4v4 organised with a couple of randoms only needed.

It's a sign of how far we have come in the last year that we can organise internal games amongst ourselves. Importantly it gives us the opportunity to get a lot more practise in, improve our fitness levels and have a little less pressure to try things out.

It's good for our development.

We had deboo maker Simone sign up for his first time this week, bringing some Italian skills to the turf, it was great to see him, as he left our work place a couple of years ago, he's had another baby since then and was looking good. On the pitch, he was a decent baller, banged in a few goals and walked away with the Hippo (Player of the Match/POTM) Award.

The game itself was tight, but one team put in a few more decisive goals to stretch away a little but the result was a side show. It was interesting to play amongst ourselves, we have a little more liberty to try new things out as individuals but also put a little more thinking behind our game as a team. Results here aren't too critical, they are secondary to our progression as a unit and there's a long way to go, but this tweak in our weekly games will certain bring improvement. We have plans to join a league, but before our matches we get a chance to see some of the current league outfits, and they are several levels above us.

For now, we need to focus on team and individual increments and the rest will come. Playing training matches is a really good addition to our weekly games and also freshens and mixes things up. We will still play against teams of randoms, that's the nature of footyaddicts, but again, it adds some different narratives to our story, which continues unabated as we get better on levels.
