FC7 Winter Update - 20.02.21

The winter has been long and hard, made all the harder by the continuing lockdown we are all in. But this Monday, BoJo sets out his roadmap out of the restrictions we're all facing currently. We wait with baited breath...

This is a football blog first and foremost, and we understand that lives are at risk, and that is a main priority. But it's hard to not get excited for Monday. I feel we are at a position now where it's just a matter of when not if. As such, we're not too worried about how long it will take before we return. Safety for the general population and indeed the World comes first, but the UK has motored through it's vaccination programme, 17 million with their first dose as we speak. We can forget about the anti-vaxxers. They are weak, selfish folk, and they will be left behind, so they can continue with their hate and ignorance.

Things on the whole are looking good. A lot of us have been keeping fit, well, trying our hardest. Winter months are a tough slog. Playing football weekly is such a good supplementary form of exercise, so without, it's hard to keep motivated and even measure ourselves. My personal battle has been with cigarettes. Nasty habit, but without kicking it, I've found I've been hitting a glass ceiling when it comes to fitness. Still, its a challenge, and that we are all doing productive things during lockdown says a lot about our positive mindsets.

Life really is too short...

We've got so many plans, that go along side our constant efforts to increase numbers. Remember we started with just 5, and we're approaching 20 players now, on it's own, that's a huge achievement, but as our motto suggests, we're more than a club, so we're looking to do even more. Those plans are on hold currently though, we can't plan much with venues shut and there's nothing concrete regarding events, leagues etc.

But there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Little steps, but steps nonetheless. Now we wait to see what BoJo has to say.
