It's coming to an end now, but has been a huge success televisually. It's a great shame that the Covid-19 pandemic put paid to fans in stadiums as I'm sure we could of got some records broken. But even if the virus has put paid to that, Women's football and it's development can't afford to stand still, even more so after a successful World Cup.
It's also a shame that women's academy football has been stopped. It hasn't been classed as "elite" level, compared to the equivalent. That's understandable in terms of the resources available but the bigger question is why the resources aren't there? That's why these events are more important than ever, so that we bring some parity to the game we ALL love.
Below are some links on how you as a parent or player can take part. Instead of just dropping the kid/s off for a game, stick around and watch, get involved. We all can't just sit back and expect the game to grow. Be part of it. At FC7, we've found it really hard during lockdown to kick start something for the ladies who are interested, but rest assured we have plans. Hopefully as a minimum we can inspire all people to get fitter, or even start their own sports clubs, even if it isn't football.
Good Luck on your journeys!
